If GMos are Not Enough, Check out Carrageenan

free-medical-graphics_23-2147490516

From fish with cancer and medications found in our water supply that is changing the sex of fish, growth hormones in our meat, genetically modified organisms in our food, we also have to watch out for Carrageenan.  The sad thing is that Carrageenan is also commonly used in organic foods so when we think we are eating healthy, that may not be the case at all.

Carrageenan is a common food additive that is extracted from a red seaweed, which has no nutritional value at all, and is used as a thickener and binder to improve the texture of ice cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, soy milk and other processed foods.   In manufacturing, carrageenan is also used as a stabilizer in medications, foods, and toothpaste and is an ingredient in weight loss products .

The University of Illinois College of Medicine, conducted studies linking carrageenan – the type that is widely used in foods with malignancies and other stomach problems and our digesting carrageenan causes inflammation and that when we consume processed foods containing it, we ingest enough to cause inflammation in our bodies. Since chronic inflammation is a root cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s diseases, and cancer,  the use of carrageenan has been tested in tissues and when laboratory mice are exposed to low concentrations of carrageenan for 18 days, they develop “profound” glucose intolerance and impaired insulin action, both of which can lead to diabetes.

According to Charlotte Vallaeys, director of Farm and Food Policy for non-profit food policy research group Cornucopia, the FDA picks profits over public health.  Though current research indicates carrageenan side effects can cause a host of problems, the FDA refuses to impose limitations on its use.  “Natural does not mean safe,” says Vallaeys. “Poison ivy is natural, but you wouldn’t put it in skin lotion…carrageenan side effects appear to do to your gut what poison ivy does to your skin.”

Letter from National Pro-Life Alliance

npla_hdr

Do you think it’s okay to kill a seven pound, full-term baby right before birth?

No? Debbie Wasserman Schultz does…

DNC Chairwoman and Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was recently asked whether or not she supported killing a seven pound baby right before birth.

Her response? That abortion-on-demand should remain legal and unrestricted at any and all times during pregnancy.

You see, for too long the pro-abortion media has tried to give their pro-abortion pals in Congress a free pass on their extremism.

But when pro-lifers flip the script on pro-abortion politicians and force them to go on the record, they show their true colors.

And he fact is, the abortion lobby’s support for abortion-on-demand is a moral and political disaster.

When pro-lifers succeed in putting pro-abortion politicians on the record for their radical positions, what’s sure to follow are historic gains for the pro-life cause at the polls.

In the last election, your National Pro-Life Alliance exposed the radical pro-abortion votes of several targeted members of Congress.

And all told, eight pro-abortion U.S. Senators and scores of pro-abortion Congressmen were sent into retirement by the time the final votes were tallied.

Taking an unwavering stand for the Sanctity of Life is a winning position.

And together, you and I will continue to hold politicians accountable for their extreme pro-abortion positions.

Hillary Clinton Pushes Abortion in First Speech as Candidate: Too Many Women “Denied” Abortions

hillary-clinton-official-photoClick on link below to see the entire article written by Life News.  “Clinton said “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed” for the sake of giving “access” to women for “reproductive health care.” The comment was a shot across the bow at pro-life advocates and countries with pro-life laws.”

If you are not familiar with the “Margaret Sanger Award”, after reading this article, please refer to the Margaret Sanger page (sub link under Upper Downriver Right to Life tab) to understand her full agenda (the Award Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi both won).

Hillary Clinton Pushes Abortion in First Speech as Candidate: Too Many Women “Denied” Abortions.

My first and last word on politics!

I am only going to make one comment when it comes to politics and then drop the subject because I do not want this blog to become some political forum. Ladies, I am talking directly to you. We are almost 18 months away from our next election and I’m already sick of hearing about it every day on the news, but what makes me even sicker is when women encourage us and want us to vote for a female just because they are a female. Whatever happened to judging a person by the content of their character, and that has nothing to do with what sex you are?

It is a sad commentary that I feel it necessary to state that despite the words politicians and candidates say (forget the words and hugging of babies or “catchy” phrases) – look at their record BEFORE they decided to run for office or WHILE they were in an office of a different level. Are the words in line with their prior actions or are they all new words (a new position) because they want to win more votes? They seem to like to say when they flip/flop they have “evolved” – really? How convenient! Does the content of their character show that they are a person who not only will “talk the talk, but walk the walk”? Perhaps I should not have said the previous comment because honesty can live up to those words – but so can dishonesty if it is guided by a particular agenda!

The great Martin Luther King, Jr. once said “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Doesn’t it go without saying that this same way of thinking should continue on without personal biases, like judging a person because they are female vs. male, young vs. old, belong to one political party vs. the other (the difference here is if you believe in the agenda itself, that is different than just voting because it is a specific party).

If you are going to go to the poles to vote then you have a responsibility to do your homework and to know who you are voting for, what they stand for based upon their prior experience and record, and anything less is an insult to every other American who wants the smartest, most ethical, honest, talented candidate that stands for all Americans, not just a particular group of Americans, and who is loyal and dedicated to this country that we call HOME. We want a Commander-in-Chief who puts this country, its people, best interest, and its security first and will turn their back on those who prefer their greed for money and power over the people, and will not be bought off by large corporations, favors, and lobbyists. A person who will work within the confines and protect the Constitution of the United States.

If after doing your homework, you still cry out for a woman because she is, in your opinion, the best candidate, then I say “go for it”, but do it because of the content of her character, not because she happened to be born female.

As a female, I am insulted by the  women who obviously consider me, and other independent thinkers, so shallow and narrow minded that we can be led by such rhetoric that it is “time for a woman President”. NO, it is time for a President of any sex that will do the work they are meant to do and will start by getting rid of the pork, all the fraud and abuse, and be responsible enough to protect our borders, our security, and our freedoms.
