Industry Watchdog Reinforces Call for New Leadership at USDA National Organic Program

(Excerpt from Cornucopia)

Read Cornucopia’s letter to USDA Secretary Perdue.]

“Non-organic corn and soy, labeled as organic, are flooding U.S. ports, undercutting legitimate U.S. organic farmers, due to the USDA’s negligence. The organic industry’s most aggressive industry watchdog, The Cornucopia Institute, reinforced their call for USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue to correct the chronic pattern of gross corruption at the National Organic Program (NOP) by replacing the incompetent management.

Cornucopia’s letter to Perdue follows the release of a new investigation by The Washington Post documenting massive shipments of fraudulent organic grains entering the U.S. from China and Eastern Europe. The May 13 article, The labels said ‘organic.’ But these massive imports of corn and soybeans weren’t, details how easy it has been for exporters to sell gross amounts of fraudulent “organic” commodities to U.S. markets.”

Why Weren’t the Marches Against Monsanto on the Mainstreet or Local News This Year?

11295686_375285036014887_8993280626476274694_n

The young man above is from the Detroit March Against Monsanto which was held this past weekend, and he obviously is smarter than I am.  I’ve followed the marches in previous years and expected to see live streams and tons of videos on the internet and the main street and local news.  I was wrong, but WHY?  When millions of people worldwide (people from approximately 40+ countries and well over 400+ cities) march in protest, that is news, but obviously not when it comes to the lobbyists and others who want to keep the truth from the consumers who are more interested in profits over people.  This type of censorship is unacceptable.

As I was searching various cities where I knew the marches took place, I couldn’t help but notice that even on Facebook, a lot of the sites had no information, no articles and no videos, unlike previous years.  Knowing how strong and commited the various groups have been in the past, one can only assume there is an answer to the “why” – one that will only make me work harder to be part of the non GMO activism.

Readers and activists – DON’T STOP NOW!  The march is over for this year, but there is so much work that still needs to be done.  Keep up the calls, e-mails, tweets, letters, and Petitions to our representatives, and watch for political candidates for the 2016 election that cares about the health and well being of the people when deciding on who you will vote for.  What is their stance on GMOs, on labeling, and what connections do they have to large corporations and who is contributing to their campaign?

I was fortunate enough to come across the video below.  It seems that the March Against Monsanto is news in other countries.  Again, I ask, why wasn’t there any more coverage here in the U.S.A.?  It isn’t because people don’t care because I can assure you from my blog, Facebook, and twitter account, the two most popular subjects are about GMO and the Right to Life.  Perhaps the drop in profits of Monsanto have something to do with it.  Perhaps the increase in organic non GMO foods is increasing in popularity and more and more people are shopping for healthier foods – foods that don’t cause cancer and other dangerous health issues.  Are our voices being quieted because more and more companies are going non GMO and it is hurting the large corporations and politicians who seem to be in bed with them?

Is Food the Real Medicine for Good Health?

bag_of_foodSomeone recommended a “Trailer” for me to watch and it got my attention, so I decided to watch the full movie.  The research was astonishing and I would recommend watching the full version to see the importance of what food really does to our bodies based on decades of worldwide research from a medical and scientific view – proof that we are NOT told about because of the greed for money and power.

I personally believe “You are what you eat”, but even after years of learning about food and eating “healthy” in order to reverse Type 11 diabetes, which I have been 100% successful in doing for well over a decade and a half, without no medication at all, this video taught me a lot that I didn’t know.  I’d also go one step further then the videos and add that plant based food is only “good” if it is organic.  Like I’ve said so many times before, I rather pay the higher price for nonGMO and gluten free foods then to spend my money on doctors, hospitals, or prescriptions that just hide the symptoms instead of taking care of the underlying problem.

For years and years I’ve used myself as a human guinea pig, getting blood tests every three month, to see what and how foods would impact my blood tests, until I found out what controlled my diabetes without medication, what lowered my blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides and what kept my weight at the level I wanted it at.

I’ve included the Trailer, which is a shorter version just to get your attention, as the full version is quite long – but worth every second of time it takes to watch.

If GMos are Not Enough, Check out Carrageenan

free-medical-graphics_23-2147490516

From fish with cancer and medications found in our water supply that is changing the sex of fish, growth hormones in our meat, genetically modified organisms in our food, we also have to watch out for Carrageenan.  The sad thing is that Carrageenan is also commonly used in organic foods so when we think we are eating healthy, that may not be the case at all.

Carrageenan is a common food additive that is extracted from a red seaweed, which has no nutritional value at all, and is used as a thickener and binder to improve the texture of ice cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, soy milk and other processed foods.   In manufacturing, carrageenan is also used as a stabilizer in medications, foods, and toothpaste and is an ingredient in weight loss products .

The University of Illinois College of Medicine, conducted studies linking carrageenan – the type that is widely used in foods with malignancies and other stomach problems and our digesting carrageenan causes inflammation and that when we consume processed foods containing it, we ingest enough to cause inflammation in our bodies. Since chronic inflammation is a root cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s diseases, and cancer,  the use of carrageenan has been tested in tissues and when laboratory mice are exposed to low concentrations of carrageenan for 18 days, they develop “profound” glucose intolerance and impaired insulin action, both of which can lead to diabetes.

According to Charlotte Vallaeys, director of Farm and Food Policy for non-profit food policy research group Cornucopia, the FDA picks profits over public health.  Though current research indicates carrageenan side effects can cause a host of problems, the FDA refuses to impose limitations on its use.  “Natural does not mean safe,” says Vallaeys. “Poison ivy is natural, but you wouldn’t put it in skin lotion…carrageenan side effects appear to do to your gut what poison ivy does to your skin.”

To see a list of brands of “natural” or “organic” foods that contain carrageenan, please click on the link below.

US Forest Service Ignores Nestlé’s Illegal Take Over of Water Supply

wateR_nestles_735_350
They (large corporations) took over our food supply by adding GMOs, and now they want to get at our water supply.  Educate yourself and fight back – we can do it if we all stick together and take action.  Sign every Petition you can and tell all your family and friends to do the same.  Since our government won’t help us, we can get our point across by shopping for brands that care about our health and our rights.   If they see their profits starting to fall, they are more apt to listen to us.  Read the full story on the link below:

All Major 2016 Presidential Candidates OPPOSE GMO Labeling

10955511_970455092999122_1723893011059833607_n

It’s up to the US people to protect the food supply.  Don’t allow the government and large corporations continue to put poison in our foods – you can do that by getting the word out and hitting them in the pocket – the only thing they seem to understand.  Because of the wise choices of everyday people, large greedy corporations are already starting to see their profits drop and more and more stores are stocking their shelves with non GMO and organic and gluten free food.

Read more about who has to say what about labeling and e-mail friends, tweet, blog, use Facebook and make your voice heard.
