Decree Barring State Legislators Who Voted for Radical Pro-abortion Bills From Receiving Holy Communion.

l0g0

Have you heard?

Today Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois issued a Decree barring state legislators who voted for radical pro-abortion bills from receiving Holy Communion.

I had the honor of sharing a podium with Bishop Paprocki during a huge pro-life rally in the Illinois Capitol back in March. His courage and clarity were inspiring that day.

But his action today is even more inspiring.

Bishop Paprockil

Bishop Paprocki clearly spelled out the grave evil and injustice of abortion. He explained that Christian legislators have a duty to defend the lives of unborn children. He backed up his words with Canon Law.

He even singled out by name the two legislators who pushed these bills through the Illinois General Assembly: House Leader Mike Madigan, and Senate Leader John Cullerton.

I was so inspired by Bishop Paprocki’s Decree that I want to send him a special letter of thanks. Would you like to join me?

Click here to add your name to my letter thanking Bishop Paprocki for being such a courageous leader of the Church!

And please forward this message to all your pro-life contacts. I want to offer Bishop Paprocki a tremendous outpouring of support.

Our leaders so often disappoint us. But here we have a case of a true leader, one who stands up for the truth without compromise.

I hope you and all your pro-life friends will join me in thanking Bishop Paprocki for being such a bold and courageous shepherd of the Church!

Lincoln Park’s Annual Memorial Day Parade

Please join Upper Downriver Right to Life on Sunday, May 19, 2019, as we “Stand Up For Life” in Lincoln Park’s Annual Memorial Day Parade.  The parade begins at 1:00 P.M.

We still have not received our unit number or line up position, but we’ll probably line up again on White Street a couple blocks off of Fort Street.  We will be getting  that information, so watch our Facebook page this week, or another good alternative would be to ask anyone with a clipboard where the Upper Downriver parade unit is located.

There will be patriotic music coming from our unit.  We plan to use our new portable sound system in all parades from here on out!  Also, Rosalie’s brand new red vehicle will be used in our unit.  AS A REMINDER, the parade runs from Southfield Road down Fort Street to the Band Shelter.  Park either behind the auto part store located at the corner of Fort Street and Southfield or back behind that area a few streets away in the residential section.  If needed, we will drive you back to your vehicle after the parade.  The parade will be finished by 2:00 P.M.  WE NEED YOU TO HELP PASS OUT CARDS AND CANDY.

PLAN TO HONOR GOD’S GIFT OF LIFE TO YOU AS WELL AS THE UNBORN.  PUT IT ON OUR CALENDAR NOW!

Planned Parenthood Protest

11

Fifty people prayed and sang on the sidewalk in front of Detroit’s Cass Avenue Planned Parenthood Center on the cool, clear Saturday evening of April 13 as part of a Prayer Vigil (#protestPP) at 142 locations nationwide.

Pedestrian and car traffic was brisk.  One heckler was persistent, but valiantly ignored as everyone focused on praying the Rosary and the intercessory prayers led by Deacon Richard Bloomfield from Our Lady of the Scapular in Wyandotte.

22

As the shadows lengthened with the evening sun and after singing a few hymns, candles were distributed and lit, but most were extinguished by the wind, much like the babies who entered this place in their mothers’ wombs.

The Divine Mercy Chaplet was prayed, and people were asked to contact legislators and write letters to editors, or take other pro-life actions. The Deacon gave his blessing,  a group photo was taken, and the group dispersed to their homes.

33

Participants came from Downriver and Detroit Parishes, Upper Downriver Right to Life, Central Wayne County Right to Life, Southern Downriver Right to Life, St. Joseph Oratory, Holy Redeemer Parish, Grosse Ile, and more.

People of Life

POL Flyer19-page-001

Our People of Life Benefit Reception is coming up on Thursday, May 2.  People of Life is RLM’s annual fundraising dinner in support of outreach to the Black community.  This is the last year that we’ll be able to have the dinner at the Edison Boat Club in Detroit as it will be closing – which is a shame because the food there is always so great.

Since Upper Downriver RTL is near the Detroit area, you can be one of our powerful allies in outreach to the Black community and to the city of Detroit.  I’m hoping you’ll help us get the word out and invite people to join us.  Reservations are coming in slowly and we want to fill the room to hear Christina Bennett’s amazing story.  You can view all information and register here:

I hope you will help us promote the dinner and that you can join us!
