 Cindy Brown

The Formative Power of Music:

The Connection between Music, your Virtues…and your Sins

St. Augustine once famously said, “He who sings prays twice.”  These words seem easy to swallow when we think of liturgical music or songs of Praise and Worship, but what about the rest of your life, or of the world around you?  What about those songs that play in the background–in your car, the local store, your children’s iPod?  What about these many popular songs which can implant so easily in our minds, and flow so easily from our lips?  How mindful are we of these songs, and more importantly, of these lyrics?

Can music actually make you more virtuous…or more sinful?  These, and many other questions, will be answered at Cindy Brown’s talk on the philosophy of music and the role of music in the Christian life.  This talk is important for everyone, but it is especially necessary for anyone who has children or works with children.  Do not underestimate the powerful influence of music in your life.  Come find out why!

Cindy Brown is the daughter of Steve Ray, author, international speaker, and the creator of the Footprints of God documentary video series.  She got her masters in philosophy from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, as well as a degree in theology with Scott Hahn as her thesis director.  Cindy has finished all her Ph.D. work except for the dissertation from the Catholic University of America, at which point God made it clear that it was time to focus on her family.  Having been homeschooled all the way through high school, Cindy is now homeschooling her own 5 children and teaching high school philosophy courses for the Christ the King homeschool.

Dear Defenders of Life–   I am asking– maybe even begging you to please create a Face Book event invitation to these memorial services–   I feel very strongly that we need to promote these services–  ALL that these aborted babies received in this world was death and a grave–  they are abandoned– and we are now their loved ones who remember what happened to them and call our nation to repent of the atrocity and injustice of abortion.

The memorials services are Saturday, Sept. 12th

There’s only one more week to get the word out about these these memorial services– the three in the Detroit Metro area are part of the nationwide event of the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Babies. See the memo below and website address for this event.

Those of you who are savvy about tweeting–  please create a tweet for this  like  #abortionmemorials   or #rememberabortedbabies

Or at least send this out to your own email lists– encouraging people to come!

Planned Parenthood and kill the unborn and sells their body parts–  Pro-lifers take their broken bodies out of the trash and bury their body parts !!!

If you wish–  choose just one of the services below– and promote it !!  Or promote all three!   As one of the organizers for the National Day of Remembrance I am grateful.  And  I hope all of you will make an effort to be at one of these services.

Please attend one of these special Memorial Services for unborn children killed by abortion and buried at cemeteries in the Detroit Metro Area.

Give these victims of abortion the respect they deserve!

There will be a car pool departing at noon to Assumption Grotto’s memorial service from Our Lady of the Scapular (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church) 10th Street and Superior Blvd., Wyandotte.  You are welcome to join us.

Don’t Be an Ostrich and Bury Your Head in the Sand!

(Excerpts from Right to Life of Michigan)

“The ostrich has gotten a bad rap….It all started when Gaius Plinius Secundus, a naturalist and Roman scholar started a myth still in existence today… that an ostrich buries its head in the sand to avoid responsibility.  Quite the contrary.  Male ostriches will dig a sizable hold in which to hide newly-laid eggs.  During the incubation period, both the male and female ostrich will visit the hole, taking turns to carefully rotate the eggs with their beak…this, of course, is a task that requires them to lower their head into the nest, which from a distance looks like they have buried their head in the sand…this is how the myth was born.  As a fact of nature it’s false, but as a metaphor it’s very powerful.

We are making tremendous strides forward, not only here in Michigan but across the country.  There is every indication we are winning and we will ultimately prevail in the debate over legalized abortion, but we can never become complacent.  We can never let down our guard.  We can never comfort ourselves with the thought that we are making great headway – TO DO SO WOULD BE THE EQUIVALENT OF “BURYING OUR HEAD IN THE SAND.”

Look at the headlines from just the past several weeks to see how badly we are needed:

  • Craigslist ad claims to sell unborn baby for money or drugs:  “Six months pregnant, don’t want it!”
  • Police arrest man who raped 14 year old, forced her to abort and burned her stillborn baby on a grill.
  • “Filthy” abortion clinic “treats patients like cattle,” according the patient reviews.
  • After her abortion at five months, a woman saw her baby in a bucket on the floor and he was moving.
  • Shocking photo shows newborn baby abandoned in filthy trash can.
  • Babies are surviving late-term abortions and left to die struggling to breathe for hours.
  • Woman only gets 12 years in prison for killing her five newborn babies.
  • Peter Singer:  “If a house were on fire, I’d save 200 pigs before saving one human child.” (Singer is a former professor at Princeton University.)
  • Abortionist describes her joy at pulling 23 week old unborn babies apart “piece by piece.”
  • Abortionist:  “I did 21 abortions today and I have absolutely no regrets.”
  • Three day old baby girl saved from being eaten by ants after she was abandons.

If we think, even for a moment, that tragedies just like these are rare, we are have our heads in the sand.

To learn more about what Right to Life of Michigan is doing, visit their website at www.RTL.org.  We have to enlist the aid of our fellow citizens who are still standing on the sidelines.  To be more precise – the have their heads buried in the sand.  They have not yet responded to abortion as the defining issue of our day.  The message is simple…Look around!  Fifty-five million children have lost their lives.  The sanctity of human life is under constant assault.

By all means, we need to thank God for His provision and celebrate His victories in our midst, but at the same time, we must remain vigilant.  Truth be known, we should stop spreading nasty rumors about the ostrich.  Instead we should model their behavior where both mother and father carefully and lovingly tend to their young.”

It’s a girl: The three deadliest words in the world

As horrible as these facts are when it comes to gendercide in India and China, it is imperative that we here in America and other places around the world get involved to stop it there, and to stop it here before it becomes a common practice.

Anyone who keeps track of Planned Parenthood has already seen the videos on the subject of gendercide here in America with couples asking about possible abortions if they prefer one gender over the other, and replies by Planned Parenthood on how it can be done.  Is this really what this country has come to – do we really want to continue the Margaret Sanger way of thinking like certain politicians ascribe to?  Click on the link below to see the video and to learn more on man’s inhumanity to man (or in more cases – women).  If there is such a thing as “war on woman”, this certainly proves it but in an entirely different light then what people hear or see on TV.

Baby Body Parts for Sale by Planned Parenthood

(Excerpt from 40 Days for Life)

Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards, appeared on talk shows over the weekend claiming that the abortion chain was not profiting from aborted baby body parts and that the organization “has broken no laws.”

The Center for Medical Progress released its third undercover video, which further exposes the growing Planned Parenthood scandal.

WARNING:  This latest video contains very disturbing undercover footage documenting Planned Parenthood’s harvesting of aborted baby body parts.  Viewer discretion is advised.

The video features a woman who once worked inside Planned Parenthood clinics describing the profit motive involved in Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted baby body parts.

The expose also includes new admissions from top-level Planned Parenthood leaders about their pricing structure.  A Planned Parenthood director concludes that payment per organ removed from an aborted child will be the most beneficial for the organization.  “I think a per item thing works a little better just because we can see how much we can get out of it.”

There are three things we can do TODAY:

  1. Pray
  2. Spread the word
  3. Join a rally in front of a Planned Parenthood location
