Call to Holiness

CTH 2019 standard flier-page-001

Cardinal Raymond Burke Speaking at Call to Holiness Event

Cardinal Raymond Burke accepted the invitation to speak at a conference of the non-profit Call to Holiness, Inc. in Detroit.  His topic is “Keeping Faith in a Time of Confusion.”  There is even more confusion now than when the topic was chosen!

Cardinal Burke has been an episcopal advisor of Call to Holiness since 2003 when he spoke at the annual Detroit conference while he was Bishop of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  It was only months before his appointment as Archbishop of St. Louis.

The conference dinner with Cardinal Burke as the keynote speaker will be held at Athena Hall in Roseville, just outside Detroit’s northeast side on Saturday, October 26.  Following the dinner will be a Holy Hour at Assumption Grotto.  On Sunday, the Cardinal will be the celebrant of a Pontifical Extraordinary Form (Tridentine) Mass at 11 a.m., also at Assumption Grotto, Detroit.  Those who register for the Saturday dinner will receive priority seating in the church.  Provisions are being made for overflow attendees to see the simulcast in the parish gymnasium.

Further information about the dinner conference can be found at www.calltoholiness.com or call 313-451-4659.

Raymond Leo Burke was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin, in 1948.  He attended high school at Holy Cross Seminary in La Crosse, Wisconsin, before attending the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.  He was ordained to the priesthood by Pope Saint Paul VI on June 29, 1975.  He is a canon lawyer and scholar.

Consecrated a bishop in 1995 by Pope Saint John Paul II, he served for almost nine years as Bishop of La Crosse, where he founded the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  On December 2, 2003, Bishop Burke was named Archbishop of Saint Louis.  From 2008-2014, he served as Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura in Rome.  He was elevated to the College of Cardinals in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI.  In November 2014, he was named Patron of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta.

Cardinal Burke has also served on the Congregation for Causes of Saints, the Congregation for Bishops, the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and the Council of Cardinals and Bishops of the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State.  He is prefect emeritus and a member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura in Rome.

At the request of the late Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J., co-founder of Call to Holiness and founder of the Marian Catechist Apostolate, Cardinal Burke is the International Director of the Marian Catechist Apostolate.  He is also an episcopal advisor for Catholic Action for Faith and Family, leading the Global Rosary Crusade “Operation Storm Heaven.”

Decree Barring State Legislators Who Voted for Radical Pro-abortion Bills From Receiving Holy Communion.

l0g0

Have you heard?

Today Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois issued a Decree barring state legislators who voted for radical pro-abortion bills from receiving Holy Communion.

I had the honor of sharing a podium with Bishop Paprocki during a huge pro-life rally in the Illinois Capitol back in March. His courage and clarity were inspiring that day.

But his action today is even more inspiring.

Bishop Paprockil

Bishop Paprocki clearly spelled out the grave evil and injustice of abortion. He explained that Christian legislators have a duty to defend the lives of unborn children. He backed up his words with Canon Law.

He even singled out by name the two legislators who pushed these bills through the Illinois General Assembly: House Leader Mike Madigan, and Senate Leader John Cullerton.

I was so inspired by Bishop Paprocki’s Decree that I want to send him a special letter of thanks. Would you like to join me?

Click here to add your name to my letter thanking Bishop Paprocki for being such a courageous leader of the Church!

And please forward this message to all your pro-life contacts. I want to offer Bishop Paprocki a tremendous outpouring of support.

Our leaders so often disappoint us. But here we have a case of a true leader, one who stands up for the truth without compromise.

I hope you and all your pro-life friends will join me in thanking Bishop Paprocki for being such a bold and courageous shepherd of the Church!

Tolton – From Slave to Priest

thumbnail

The newest St. Luke Production live one man, multi-media drama about the first Black Catholic priest in the United States is coming to Detroit and Southgate, Michigan.  Please share the message!

Tickets available at ToltonDetroit.eventbrite.com

St. Luke Production says, “Martha Tolton was a Missouri slave and a mother, who knew there was only one way to save her family – she had to escape to freedom in Illinois. In the dead of night, she slipped away. It was twenty miles to the Missouri – Illinois border. On the other side lay freedom, but she had to get there first, and that meant crossing the vast Mississippi River. Terrified, she prayed for a miracle, and sure enough, God provided. When reached the river, she found a dilapidated row boat and, with bullets from angry Confederate soldiers whizzing by her ears, she rowed to freedom. Now, more than 150 years later, we know God had a mission for this heroic mother. Through Martha Tolton’s courage, determination, and most of all through her devout Catholic faith, the first African American priest, Father Augustus Tolton, was given to the people of God. His story is amazing and inspiring, and we need to hear it. Tolton will have a powerful impact of healing in our country and all over the world, drawing ALL people to the truth of Jesus Christ. Like Mama Tolton crossing the Mississippi in a leaky boat in the middle of the night, let’s trust in God, and take a risk. Let’s cross that river, and bring freedom to souls through the Truth of Jesus Christ. It’s worth it.”

America Needs Fatima

SITOUT-Cal-Forces-XGender-Classes-666x233

Please Help Spread This Important Spiritual Campaign!

I just signed a petition from “America Needs Fatima” and hope you will consider doing so as well because the State of California is forcing little children to attend indecent and explicit pro-LGBT classes. And parents can’t opt out.

In good conscience, we can’t stay silent — and allow the Culture of Death to poison more young minds.

To protect the innocence of our children, please consider at least reading the facts on the link below and then signing the pro-family petition:

God Bless You!

Pope Francis Has Approved the Beatification of Detroit Capuchin Friar Fr. Solanus Casey

images

At a news conference on May 4, 2017, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron announced the news that Pope Francis has approved the beatification of Detroit Capuchin Friar, Fr. Solanus Casey, and will be named “blessed”, and has met the requirements sixty years after his death.  Father Casey was the second U.S. born man to achieve such designation, and the first person from Michigan.

Father Solanus Casey’s body was exhumed yesterday, minus the news media.  The casket was in worse shape than his body.  The casket was replaced and his relics were sent to Rome.

It looks as if all 60,000 seats at Ford Field will be needed.  Information about the tickets for his beatification are at:  http://www.themichigancatholic.org/2017/06/fr-solanus-casey-beatified-nov-18-ford-field/.  Tickets can be ordered after August 15.  To receive ceremony details, fill out the form at:  http://solanuscenter.us5.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=03e49d3e6a8b72dec8c041dd9&id=6ac27dda7d

Calling Christians and Jews to Send a Pro-Life E-mail to Rabbi Weiner

logo1

Since I do not have a Jewish Pro-Life group in my area, I try to work as much as I can with my local Christian brothers and sisters, BUT NOW I NEED THEIR HELP, as well as the help of other Jewish Pro-Life activists.

There is a protest going on against one of our misguided Rabbis who is working with Planned Parenthood. I try not to ask too much of my friends, but this is important to me and to the Pro-Life movement. I ask that you take a few moments of your time and send an e-mail to: RabbiWeiner@TINR.ORG.

I’ve included my e-mail below, but of course you can choose to write whatever you want to. We MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER, as abortion is an abomination to all people of every faith that follows the words of the Creator. If it is easier, just copy and paste one of the following pictures and e-mail it to him.  One picture is worth a thousand words!

RabbisTorah szdstar

“Your biography says: “Judaism is not a spectator sport. One must engage Judaism in every way possible: from prayer to learning, from protest to visiting the sick, from visiting Israel regularly to feeding the homeless.” He believes that “Judaism is at its best when spirituality and action are paired.”

(Excerpt from the Jewish Pro-Life Foundation)

Judaism emphasizes the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death, making it incumbent upon Jews to find alternative life saving ways to deal with unplanned and unwanted pregnancy. Adoption and single parenthood are much better choices for Jews than the intentional killing of an innocent life. Indeed, Judaism insists that a Jew break all the Sabbath rules to save the life of a fetus. Judaism prohibits desecrating the human body, but abortion destroys a human body, and the harvesting of baby parts for profit runs contrary to Jewish respect for the dead.

Our Jewish tradition provides clear guidelines to follow regarding the protection of unborn human life. From Genesis 9:6-7, “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood through man, shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man. And you, be fruitful, and multiply; swarm in the earth, and multiply therein“, to Deuteronomy 30:19, where our Heavenly Father clearly declares, “I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed.“

In the Zohar, our mystical sages warn us of disturbing human unborn life, “For there are three [persons] who drive away the Shekkinah (indwelling of God ) from the world, making it impossible for the Holy One, Blessed be He, to fix His abode in the universe and causing prayer to be unanswered…..{The third is} he who causes the fetus to be destroyed in the womb, for he destroys the artifice of the Holy One, blessed be He, and His workmanship…… For these abominations the Spirit of Holiness weeps.”

AS A JEW AND A PRO-LIFE ACTIVIST, I am embarrassed for and by this Rabbi, who in  my humble opinion, shouldn’t even have the title of “Rabbi” in front of his name.  He is not a good example of a Rabbi, or of Jewish Law.

Despite the fact that the Rabbi’s e-mail said he was on a month long vacation and could  not  respond, he managed to respond to my e-mail within a half hour or so, in the most disrespectful way possible, a way that NO RABBI would ever talk to a fellow human being, let alone a fellow Jew.  Apparently the money he gets for being on Planned Parenthood’s Board of Directors has outweighed his humanity and his training in Jewish Law when it comes to the sanctity of life.  I find it very interesting that when the Jewish Pro-Life Federation sent him e-mails and literature about abortion, he failed to take them on, but decided to take me, as a single individual on with his insults and disrespect.
