(30 minute preview)
All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood Clinic Directors in the nation. She counseled countless women about their reproductive choices and was involved in approximately 22,000 abortions, and told women on a daily basis about what abortion services were available for them, like the Title IX taxpayer funding of the abortion referral agency which continues to be a major point of contention between Republicans and Democrats. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in, but then she saw something, a life-changing experience that changed everything, leading Abby to join her former enemies at 40 Days For Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.

This movie, “Unplanned”, brings an eye-opening look inside the abortion industry from a woman who was once its most passionate advocate. After reading Abby Johnson’s best-selling book of the same title, Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman were moved to bring this inspiring true story to the big screen, giving voice to a woman who has been on both sides of the abortion conversation. Stumbling blocks were put everywhere when making this movie, by Planned Parenthood and Hollywood, by turning down nine out of ten times their attempt to license songs (which meant main songs had to be cut back because of major labels refusing them license), having to secretly film in Oklahoma because of the controversy surrounding the subject matter, and finding a Director who was willing to produce it.
The director of the forthcoming movie “Unplanned” says the pro-life film was made “for such a time as this,” as several states are advancing radical abortion laws.
Last month, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) signed into law a bill legalizing abortion “at any time when necessary to protect a woman’s life or health.” Lawmakers in Virginia, Rhode Island and Vermont are promoting similar bills.
For actress, Ashley Bratcher, making the pro-life-themed film “Unplanned” was both a professional challenge and a personal risk …“ “I knew from the very beginning, they warned me, they said, ‘You’re probably gonna get blacklisted. This could end your career.’ I said, ‘I don’t care. It’s worth it,’” “This movie is not about judgment and condemnation, it’s about mercy and forgiveness,” she said.
The $6 million “Unplanned” was partially financed by Michael Lindell, the multimillionaire founder of My Pillow. Worth an estimated $300 million, Lindell is a born-again Christian and outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump.
It has been said that, “Unplanned” is the most important movie you’ll ever see on the most controversial issue of our time. No matter which side of the fence you’re on, no one will leave this film unmoved by Abby’s journey.
