Wyandotte Art Fair – 2018

DATE:  July 11 – July 14

PLACE:  Wyandotte (Biddle from Eureka to Oak)

HOURS:  10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Daily

The fair, located in downtown Wyandotte draws thousands of patrons, artists and entertainers each year. The City of Wyandotte (a waterfront community) is often described as “The Heart of Downriver”. Wyandotte is rich in history and best known for it’s historic architecture, charming downtown and variety of cultural offerings.

From the artistic talents of a variety of art forms, jewelry, and other crafts, the Art Fair offers a wonderful playground with fun rides and face makeup for the children, musical events, yummy food and drinks, animals for adoption, and information booths on a variety of subjects.

Volunteers are needed to work at the Upper Downriver Right to Life booth for four (4) hour increments on July 11 through July 14. If you would like to volunteer, please call (734) 282-6100.  Even if you are just browsing around enjoying the day and visiting the various booths, please stop by our booth to say “hi”, and to show your support for “PRO-LIFE”!

Wyandotte 4th of July Parade

Once again Upper Downriver Right to Life will be participating in the annual 4th of July Parade in downtown Wyandotte.

Please feel free to join us as we pass out candy and greet parade goers. What child (or even an adult) doesn’t like a good parade with 125 veterans, floats, bands, and clowns, plus the amazing antics of the Shriner groups?

Upper Downriver Right to Life’s Unit will be posted closer to the date of the parade  (all units are in chronological order). The parade begins at 10:00 AM, but lineup will start at 9:30 AM. We will be meeting on Biddle near Spruce Street. The parade goes on rain, snow, sleet or sunshine.

Abortion and the Original Hippocratic Oath

YOU CAN GO TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND NOT BE GIVEN PRE-NATAL CARE, NOT GET A MAMMOGRAM, CANCER TREATMENTS, OR BE TREATED OR TESTED FOR ALL THE OTHER NUMEROUS HEALTH ISSUES, SOME AS SIMPLE AS THE FLU OR COLD, AND YET PLANNED PARENTHOOD KEEPS INSISTING THAT THEY ARE A “HEALTH CARE” CENTER THAT WOMEN NEED.  HEALTH CARE SAVES LIVES INSTEAD OF KILLING LIVES.

THEY ARE AN ABORTION MILL THAT CONCENTRATES ON MAKING MONEY FROM ABORTION, AND ONLY SEE WOMEN FOR THEIR REPRODUCTION ORGANS AND HOW THEY CAN PROFIT FROM EXPLOITING THEM FOR THEIR OWN GAIN. 

Classic Version of the Hippocratic Oath

The classical version of the Hippocratic Oath is from the translation from the Greek by Ludwig Edelstein. From The Hippocratic Oath: Text, Translation, and Interpretation, by Ludwig Edelstein. Baltimore: Johns Hopkins Press, 1943. The modern version has been changed dramatically from the original intent of the Hippocratic Oath.

 “…I will fulfill according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:

…I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.

Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.

What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

If I fulfill this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.”

 

Feedback on our Planned Parenthood Protest on April 28, 2018

I knew that we had been off to a slow start for publicity, so had expected that the 5 people who  car pooled from OL Scapular were going to be it, but 5 others came! (from Livonia, Dearborn and Trenton).  We had no counter protesters, perhaps due to the late posting of our location.

The bus drivers going up and down Cass slowed down, waved, tooted their horn and allowed their passengers to read our signs. Not a lot of traffic before 10 am. About 10:40 am, a young woman parked and ran some things into Planned Parenthood.  She looked angry.  She had a Planned Parenthood insignia on her that I saw. She didn’t say anything to us. She just did her errand and left.

Just before we were finished, a young woman jogging crossed the street to speak to us. She (Brianna Sacks) was in town from California, working for Buzz Feed to cover the Trump Rally Saturday evening. She spoke to me, took some pictures, was not at all judgemental, but seemed interested. I gave her the press release that I had personalized from the template and the hand out to defund Planned Parenthood.

Invitation to the grand Opening of the new Pregnancy Resource Center

Invite for new preg center

This pregnancy center used to operate out of the basement at Oasis of Hope Church on 7 Mile by Woodward.  The new Director knew she needed to move it out of the church to reach the women they hoped to show the love of God to as they support them to choose life. They are located right by Summit abortuary on McNichols and Forrer.  Please pray for their protection – this area as many of you know is spiritually dark, we know the enemy does not want them there saving lives. Pray for the strength of the Director and staff to endure attacks.   They will not be providing ultrasounds yet and will refer to us or other pregnancy centers as needed until they can get a medical director and medical staff.

 

The wonderful volunteers with Guadelupe Workers have been shining the light into that corner for years and for that we are all so grateful!! So many lives have been saved.  Now they have someone close by to send the moms to and Detroit Pregnancy test and Help Center will be a great new partner in the fight to support moms to choose life.
